The Black List and Women In Film have announced the participants of the 2024 Episodic Lab, which focuses on preparing women writers and writers of underrepresented genders for a career in television writing.

Mentors for this year include Glen Mazzara (The Dark Tower), Liz Hannah (The Girl From Plainville), Andy Siara (The Resort), Krista Vernoff (Grey’s Anatomy), and Monica Owusu-Breen (Percy Jackson and the Olympians).

Nearly 50 writers have gone through the Episodic Lab since its inception, and more than half of the Lab alumni are currently staffed and working in television.


The Writing Climate Pitchfest for TV and Film celebrates the best unproduced climate-themed scripts in film and television by connecting writers of those scripts to Hollywood executives, producers, agents, and managers through curated one-on-one meetings. Working in partnership with NBCUniversal and The Redford Center, Hollywood Climate Summit elevates global storytellers whose work envisions new possibilities for the world. Each of the winners receive pitch coaching from industry experts prior to the live one-on-one pitch event, and executives who have attended represent 20 different companies including NBCUniversal, Netflix, Sony Pictures, Fox Searchlight TV, Gotham Group, and more.


Moonshot Initiative has selected eight emerging writers as fellows for its 2nd annual Pilot Accelerator program, which will feature three weeks of intensive training followed by the chance to pitch to studios, streamers, and production companies. The accelerator is designed to help emerging writers with completed scripts advance their careers, as well as boost representation of women and non-binary people in TV. Moonshot’s panel of producer, development executive and writer judges selected this group out of 600+ applicants.


SeriesFest is proud to partner with Big Swing Productions (founded by Emmy and Golden Globe winner Kyra Sedgwick, Meredith Bagby and Valerie Stadler) for the Women Writing Competition to discover and celebrate bold new series with a distinctly female perspective. The script writing competition gives female artists the opportunity to share diverse ideas through visual media and create unique and powerful roles for women.
